Biography of Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmad

Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmad earned his B.Sc. Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh, graduating with First Class First with Honours. He later obtained his MS Degree in Electronics and Information Science, specializing in Biomedical Engineering, from the Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan, in 1994 and 2001, respectively. In recognition of his academic excellence, Dr. Ahmad was honored with the Institute Gold Medal by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He went on to complete his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Korea University, Republic of Korea, in 2008.


From November 1994 to August 1995, Dr. Ahmad served as a part-time Lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at CUET, Bangladesh. He then worked as a Lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh, from August 1995 to October 1998. In June 2001, he joined the same department as an Assistant Professor and progressed to become an Associate Professor in May 2009. Currently, he holds the position of Full Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Additionally, he served as the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering from October 2009 to September 2012, and as the Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from September 2012 to August 2014. Furthermore, Dr. Ahmad has been the Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), KUET, since August 2020.


During his career, Dr. Ahmad has actively participated in various international conferences, serving as an Organizing Chair for EICT 2019, TPC Chair of EICT 2015, and Co-Chair/Track Chair for events EICT 2013, EICT 2017, EICT 2021, EICT 2023, and General Chair of ICICTD 2022 organized by IICT, KUET, and more. He has supervised numerous Doctoral and Master's Theses, focusing on areas such as Biomedical Signal and Image Processing, Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Human Motion Analysis, Clinical Engineering and Modern Healthcare, Circuits and Systems, ICT, Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, and Energy Conversion. Dr. Ahmad's contributions to research are evident through his publication of over 180 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He holds a life fellowship with IEB, membership with IEEE, and is a senior member of the International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology. In addition, Dr. Ahmad is the founder and president of the "Clinical Engineering Association – Bangladesh (CEAB)," a non-political, non-profit organization that aims to enhance patient care through the application of medical equipment. In this role, he oversees the policies and strategic directions of CEAB.
