The Hon’ble Chairman (State Minister) of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof. Dr. A K Azad Chowdhury unveiled the International Journal of Engineering Science (JES) on 1 September 2012, in a simple ceremony at the Auditorium of KUET just after the discussion meeting held for the celebration of University Day 2012. This international journal (JES, ISSN 2075-4914) has been published from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir as the Editor-in-Chief, while Prof. Dr. Shivendra Shekher Siker as the Executive Editor. This is the first ever International Journal published from KUET. Prof. Alamgir while acting as the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, has taken the initiative in 2009 in a meeting of the Executive Committee of Faculty, subsequently formed the editorial board, invited the papers and got the ISSN number to publish this international journal related to multi-disciplinary research and development in science and engineering. It is decided that initially two issues will be published in a calendar year. The First issue (Vol. 1, No. 1) was published in June 2010. In the meantime time, two more issues (Vol.1 No. 2 and Vol. 2 No. 1&2) were published. Prof Dr A N M Mizanur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of ME, Prof. Dr. S.S. Sikder, Dean (in-charge), Faculty of CE, Prof. Dr. Ashraful G. Bhuiyan, Dean, Faculty of EEE, Prof. Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid, Director (Students’ Welfare) and Prof. Dr. Al Nakib Chowdhury, BUET, along with large number of guests, teachers, students and the staffs of the university were also present in this simple unveiling ceremony.
