Tree Plantation Week 2015 began at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) campus on 10 September, 2015. Tree Development Committee of KUET has been observing the week. Vice-chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present in the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest and formally opened the function at around 11 am. In his inaugural speech, He urged all to plant more trees at homesteads, roadsides and other open spaces during the monsoon to protect environment from the impact of climate change. He also said, no alternative to producing more trees. Terming trees as an inseparable part of life and livelihood and also the best friends of the people.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of social forest division, Jessore zone Md Jayed Hossain Bhuiyan was the special guest. President of the KUET Tree Development Committee also librarian of KUET Md. Akkas Uddin Pathan presided over the program.

A colorful procession was brought out from the administrative building that paraded all the campus led by the Vice-Chancellor and ended in front of the new Academic Building. Deans of Faculties, Departmental Heads, Directors, teachers, officers, staffs and students of KUET attended the procession. Later, Vice-Chancellor and all the guests were planted tree in the campus.
