National Mourning Day was observed with due solemnity, marking the 42th anniversary of assassination of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On august 15, Early in the morning the national flag was flown at half-mast and black flag was flown at the administrative building, vice-chancellor’s residential building and all the residential halls of student. At 9:00 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held in campus. Vice-Chancellor distributed the prize among the winners of drawing competition. At 10:30 a.m. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the portrait of the Bangabandhu. Later, Teachers Association, Director (Students’ Welfare), Officers Association, Fazlul Haque Hall, Lalan Shah Hall, Khanjahan Ali Hall, Dr. M A Rashid Hall, Rokeya Hall, Amar Ekushy Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, KUET Chattra Leage, Employee Association(3rd class), Employee Association(4th class), Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad, Master Roll Employee Association, Khulna Engineering University School & Govt. Ummesh Primary School placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. At 11am Discussion Meeting was held while Vice-Chancellor of KUET Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir present as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering , Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, President of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Registrar G. M. Shahidul Alam were present as the Special Guests. Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, Director (Students’ Welfare) presided over the Discussion Meeting. Among Others head of the Department of URP Prof. Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar, Provost of Rokeya Hall Shuheli Shaila Ahmed, Assistant Director of DSW Bishnu Sarker, Lecturer of Biomedical Engineering Department Dr. Jubayer Ahmed Raton, General Secretary of Officers Association Hossain Mohammad Arshad, among the student President of KUET Chattra Leage Md. Abul Hassan Shovon and General Secretary Sadman Nahiyan Sezan, President of Employee Association (3rd class) Md. Mamunur Rashid Jewel spoke on the occasion. Monoj Kumar Majumder, Public Relations Officer anchoring the program. This time also the Book “Karagarer Roznamcha” written by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, distributed among the students of new committee of KUET Chattra Leage. Other faculty members, officers, employees and students were present at that time. At 05:30 p.m. Teachers Association also arrange a Discussion Meeting. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, President of Teachers Association presided over the Discussion Meeting. Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia, General Secretary of Teachers Association anchoring the program. Officers Association, KUET Cattra League, Bangabandhu Diploma Prkousoli Parishad, Bangabandhu Karmachary Parishad were also organized various programmes. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed soul of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
