Vision of the Department

Planning at URP, KUET empowers students, researchers, and the community to enact the transformations they desire in the world. We are convinced that today's most pressing societal challenges ranging from climate crises and ecological fairness to cost-effective housing and job development demand innovative, interdisciplinary, and community-centric remedies. Our students are trained to analyze and conceptualize these remedies deeply, promoting substantial community involvement in the decision-making process. Our academic staff are national frontrunners across all facets of planning, introducing fresh techniques and data resources to the pivotal concerns steering the planning field. We weave our research into the educational setting and practical planning, granting our students varied chances to acquire hands-on insights with local, regional, and global communities.
Situated in Khulna, our influence stretches far past these confines to influence planning practices and studies on both a national and global scale. Our pedagogy and studies function at various geographical magnitudes and places streets, districts, urban areas and regions. Thus, we undertake studies worldwide, and we aim for a student demographic diverse in gender, race, ethnicity, and regional and national backgrounds.
