Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the Victory Day on December 16, 2012 Sunday by paying utmost respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971.
Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir placed floral wreaths on Gollamary Memorial Monument at 15 December, 12:01 a.m. on behalf of the University. Later, Director (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid, KUET Teachers Association, Provosts of different Halls, KUET Officers Association & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreath at the memorial.
KUET took elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner. The national flag flew in front of all important buildings including the Vice-Chancellor’s office at 6:00 a.m. Later at 9:30 a.m. a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the nation’s bravest sons. Cultural programmes related to Victory Day also held at the auditorium at 6:00 p.m.
