Inaugural Ceremony of two day long 1^st International Conference on Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development (ICCESD-2012) was held at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) on March 23 at 8.30 a.m. in the auditorium of KUET. International Water Expert Prof. Dr. Ainun Nishat inaugurated the conference as the Chief Guest. Director of IICT of KUET & the Chair of the Conference Prof. Dr. Md. Keramat Ali Molla presided over the inaugural ceremony. He also delivered welcome address. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, the hon’ble VC of KUET, Prof. Dr. A M M  Safiullah, Ex-VC of BUET addressed as the Special Guests. Dr. Md. Shahjahan Ali, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering of KUET made the vote of thanks. After Inauguration Ceremony, Keynote session was held presided over by Prof. Alamgir, VC of KUET, Prof. Dr. Ainun Nishat, Prof. Dr. A. M M Safiullah and Prof. Dr. Md. Monjur Hossain delivered and Keynote papers individually. Scientists, Scholars, Teachers, Academicians and others from home and abroad were present in the inaugural ceremony. In the Conference 21 Technical sessions in which 158 Research papers were presented. They submitted their scientific contributions in the conference and with the interaction of those scholars the Conference got into an impressive value for sustainable development. On March 24 the closing program of the two day long International Conference at a local hotel was held followed by Conference Dinner. Prof. Alamgir was present as the chief Guest, while the representatives from KSRM, BSRM and Holcim, the sponsors of the conference attended.
