Postgraduate research with branches 1. Experimental Solid State Physics The research in this branch is carried out in the following fields: Magnetism, and Magnetic Materials Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Md. Asaduzzaman, Md. Torikul Islam, Nipa Debnath and Sujit Kumer Shil are conducting research in this field. This group is capable of preparing some advanced materials, likes preparing amorphous ribbons, nanocrystalline ribbon, nanocrystalline ferrites and dielectric materials. They are investigating structural, magnetic, dielectric, magnetoresistance properties of these materials. Magnetic properties like magnetization, magnetic anisotropy, magnetostriction of hard and soft magnetic materials in the from of bulk and ribbons are also investigated. This group has collaboration with IPPS, Sweden, the department of Physics, University of Hanoi, Vietnam , Atomic Energy Commission, Bangladesh, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology and BCSIR. Medical, Radiation & Health Physics Dr. Jolly Sultana has been working in this area. This group has an active collaboration with Atomic Energy Commission, Bangladesh, Atomic Energy Center, Saver and Nuclear Medicine Center, Khulna. Research works in this branch are mainly environmental radioactivity, radiation dosimetry and radiation Protection. She also investigates the quality control technique of the machines in diagnosis with radiation. This group also works for the treatment of various diseases and cancer with radiation. Atmospheric Physics The faculty members in this group are Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam , Md. Abdullah Elias Akhter and Md. Kamrul Hasan Reza. In this branch the research is concentrated mainly in the field of Satellite Meteorology, Monsoon Meteorology, Radar Meteorology, Tropical Cyclone and Climate Change. This group has an excellent collaboration with Bangladesh Meteorological Department and SAARC Meteorological Research Center. Laboratory Facilities Atmospheric Physics In this lab, different types of simulation technique are adopted to predict climate change in Banglsdesh.
